“State-approved training enterprise” and social apprenticeship projects

Upper Austrian aviation industry supplier FACC was recently recognized as a "state-approved training enterprise." For the company, this is an acknowledgment of its dedicated work in the field of apprentice training. It is now entitled to bear the national coat of arms as the highest Austrian award. At the same time, FACC apprentices demonstrated their social engagement and technical prowess in their project work.

FACC has long since been an important employer in Upper Austria and a shining example in the field of apprentice training. This commitment has now been recognized with the title of "state-approved training enterprise." Beforehand FACC exposed itself voluntarily to a year of rigorous inspections. Only 1,200 or so of Austria's 400,000-plus companies are "state-approved training enterprises." "This award is a great honor for us and reflects our ambition to provide our apprentices with highest quality training. We are very proud to have the privilege of bearing the national coat of arms as Austria's highest award in recognition of our commitment," said FACC COO Robert Machtlinger.

FACC apprentices make children's eyes light up
On January 21, 2015, FACC's fourth-year apprentices completed their latest project. Their terms of reference were to produce proof for their technical and social competence. "From the very beginning, we knew that we wanted to bring joy to children," says Viktoria Ebetshuber from the project team. Inspired by several Italian holidays, the apprentices decided to design and build an air-hockey table. After the design engineering apprentices had prepared detailed drawings, apprentices in the Plastics Engineering division began production in May. The apprentices assembled the last parts at the end of December before undertaking final quality tests. With the complimentary assistance of logistics company XPS Stranzinger, the 200-kilogram table was delivered to the "Pro Juventute Haus Sonne" children's home in Mettmach. "Immediately after its installation, the children descended on their new toy with great pleasure. We knew straight away that we had been spot on with our choice of project," agreed Helmut Winkler and Otmar Schneebauer, who had supported this fourth-year project as training supervisors.

FACC apprentices bring joy to the elderly
FACC apprentices in their second year of training have also applied themselves to a social project. Just before Christmas, they handed over three large "parcheesi" (ludo) boards to residents at the district nursing home for the elderly in Gaspoltshofen. The apprentices prepared their own construction plans for this project. At the same time, the board was designed with oversized dimensions to make it easier to use. After the handover, apprentices and residents enjoyed a few lengthy games together. The FACC Future Team demonstrated its social commitment yet again with this project as well.
