• Silver "Corona" goes to FACC
• Lively investment activity at domestic locations creates over 400 new jobs
• Further investments due to be implemented in 2017
FACC has been awarded the 2017 "Standort-Corona" in Silver for its lively investment activity. The prestigious award honors Upper Austrian companies that invested heavily and created new jobs in Upper Austria between 2014 and 2016.
The official 2017 Corona awards ceremony was held with a great deal of public interest at the Raiffeisenforum in Linz on March 7. Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC AG, was delighted with this coveted award: "Our extensive investment program is igniting a new performance level at FACC AG and represents a clear and sustainable 'yes' to Upper Austria as an industrial location. It is also a clear indication of the social and economic responsibility we feel for the people in the region." With this, the company is seeking to lay the foundation stone for further profitable growth and reinforce its strategic position as an innovative aviation industry supplier.
In the last three years, FACC has invested around 180 million euros in developing new technologies and expanding its plant and production capacity at its domestic locations, in order to satisfy the increasing global demand for lightweight composite solutions. Thanks to these investments, over 400 jobs have been created in the same period in the Innviertel region. In addition, significant orders have been generated for machine and plant engineering, and preference has been given to employing local companies from the construction as well as the skilled crafts and trades sectors. This makes FACC a leading national business and job generator in Upper Austria.
Further capacity expansion in implementation
As part of its "Vision 2020" corporate strategy, FACC has set itself the target of breaking the one billion euro turnover barrier in the 2020/21 financial year. The expansion in production capacity approved for this financial year is an important step on the path to continued success and growth. Around 5,000 square meters of additional production space will be made available for upcoming growth this year and a new autoclave will be installed in October. This gas-tight, sealable pressure vessel will be used for component heat treatment at high pressures. With a diameter of 5.5 meters and a length of 14 meters, it will be the largest thus far to be operated at FACC.
"Our order books are nicely filled and the demand for new, efficient, fuel-saving aircraft remains high. In order to meet market requirements in the best possible manner and to be well-prepared for future production ramp-ups, we are investing in construction projects and new systems again this year," says Machtlinger. "With this investment, we are responding to the strong worldwide demand for our innovative lightweight components, helping our customers to fulfill their growth plans, and further extending our technological leadership in the composites sector. Because our aim is to be represented with high-tech made in Austria on every modern commercial aircraft in future as well."
