FACC makes a difference – as the most attractive employer

Patricia Zweimüller works for FACC in the field of Human Resources, while simultaneously studying at the Johannes-Kepler University in Linz. In the course of her diploma thesis she conducted an exciting survey dealing with the appeal of Upper Austrian industrial enterprises as an employer.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Güttel, director of the institute for Human Resources & Change Management, supervised Zweimüller’s work. “The results of the study are consistent with comparable studies about Hidden Champions, whose global success is founded on their regional roots. Highly qualified employees deeply connected with the enterprise often show the degree of motivation that is important for innovation and change. Due to their regional roots, they combine long-term thinking in terms of ‘several generations’ with a short-term efficiency orientation”, Güttel explained.

Data acquisition via Internet
For collecting the data, the Internet tool “Umfrageonline” was used. At first, the study participants were asked to indicate for each enterprise if they knew it. Subsequently, the respondents selected from the enterprises known to them all those companies they found attractive as employees. Finally, they could name their five favorite companies and state the reasons for choosing them.

FACC number one
The survey revealed a high level of awareness for FACC: 88% of the people from the target group know the enterprise. According to Zweimüller, the bottom line is as follows: “For people with a technical-commercial A-level education resident in the Innviertel or Hausruckviertel region FACC is the most attractive employer in the Upper Austrian industry sector.” An impressive 67 percent of the respondents in this group of people named FACC as the most attractive employer, almost half of this group ranked FACC among their top five.

Attractive for good reasons
The reasons stated for ranking an enterprise among the top five suggest that the respondents set great store by image and reputation, in particular, as well as the individual relation with a company. Ample evidence suggests that career and development opportunities are important, too. Moreover, the respondents prefer short distances between their homes and their workplaces. The results of the survey also prompt the conclusion that people from other Upper Austrian regions and with different educational backgrounds appreciate FACC as an employer.
