FACC enabled a group of 21 employees to take a trip to China. The winners of an FACC-wide drawing visited the “Middle Kingdom” from 4 to 11 October. The programme ranged from city tours through Xian and Beijing to visiting the Terracotta Army and the Great Wall of China. The travel itinerary also included a tour of one of the Chinese parent company’s aviation companies in Xian, as had been stated in the invitation to China. The visit made it possible for the FACC employee delegation to make direct comparisons between the production processes in the FACC companies in Austria and the processes in China. Once back in Innviertel the winners reported on their impressive trip.
21 employees were on a voyage of discovery in China for eight days. “My absolute highlight was the visit to the Great Wall of China. It was very impressive and awe-inspiring to see this structure. A worthy end to a wonderful trip, on which we were also able to get to know interesting personalities within our company,” reported Peter Woller. The design engineer from FACC was one of the winners. Travelling companion Simone Kraxberger was also enthusiastic about China: “The numerous cultural differences were interesting. It really is a totally different world for us as Europeans. The whole trip was perfectly organised. We received an extremely warm welcome from the Chinese delegation, the hospitality was genuinely moving. I am grateful for this trip and now even prouder to be an FACC employee.”
Proud of the company is also Robert Machtlinger, COO of FACC: “In the 2012/13 business year FACC AG was the most successful company within the owners’ corporate network, in which a total of over 400,000 people are employed. Our team’s commitment is an essential success factor of our company. As a symbol of recognition for this service our owners enabled the FACC colleagues to embark on this unique trip. We are pleased that we, as an Austrian company, are among the top 20 airplane suppliers on the world market, do excellent work together as a team and thereby resolutely realise our strategies.”
The winners of the trip were drawn from all of the Upper Austrian company’s participating employees. During their work hours they were able to get to know the ways of life and cultures of the second strongest industrial nation. In addition to visiting the Great Wall of China, city tours in Xian and Beijing were also on the itinerary and a visit to the world renowned Terracotta Army. Another highlight was the meeting with FACC owners and a tour together of the company’s plant in Xian. Business Development Assistant Krisztina Racz was bowled over by the hospitality: “In addition to the Great Wall this was the most impressive trip. Haggling at the markets was also interesting and worked quite well despite the language and cultural barriers.” Jose Berneder, Product Quality Engineer at FACC, was likewise fascinated by the Great Wall of China: “The wonderful views into expanses of nature and the monumental length of the wall were very impressive. On top of that we forged excellent friendships during the trip. Thank you very much for this beautiful trip that I will certainly never forget.”
