Austrian aviation industry supplier FACC AG celebrated its 25th birthday under the motto "Innovating. Together." On this anniversary, the high-tech company presented itself as a successful global player in the aviation industry. The composite specialist invited managers from customers such as Airbus and Boeing to come to St. Martin im Innkreis on September 19. Then the company held a big birthday bash with the whole workforce on September 21. Around 2.500 guests visited FACC over that weekend, in order to look back on 25 successful years.
FACC turned 25 in 2014. The company, which originated from the ski production division of Fischer Sports, today numbers among the world's leading companies in the design, development, and production of lightweight, fiber-composite components for the civil aviation industry. At the same time, FACC is one of the most important employers in the Innviertel region. More than 2,800 employees work for FACC in Austria. Worldwide, the company employs more than 3,000 people from 41 nations.

Flagship company
"FACC is an internationally successful flagship company with a firm belief in Austria as an industrial location. Decisive factors in the company's success are, above all, a high research budget, solutions expertise and performance leadership, as well as the knowledge and experience of the employees. On its 25th birthday, I wish FACC all the best and every success for the future as well," said Austria's Vice Chancellor and Minister for Science, Research, and Economic Affairs, Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner.
Dedicated and successful
"With our qualified team, our clear strategy, and our innovative strength, we have become what we are today – a global player. The constant quest for further development is also the foundation stone for being outstandingly well-prepared for the further successful growth of our company and for achieving all our goals. Many thanks to all our customers and investors, who are taking this path together with us," says Walter A. Stephan, CEO & Chairman of the FACC Board, on the occasion of this year's anniversary. FACC COO Robert Machtlinger: "Our success is founded on the values pursued actively in the company. Performance, output, respect and team spirit – this is the value compass of FACC. It is a result of the collaboration between many dedicated people. It is also the basis for the profitability of our company in Austria as an industrial location, to which we are clearly committed. We invest in Austria with the objective of keeping the country an efficient location for the long term, through the interaction of our highly qualified employees and use of automated production solutions. I thank all our staff for their passion for FACC." Customers such as Boeing and Airbus depend on this passion. They rely on the expertise of the FACC Crew and reward the company for this with their longstanding faith in the company.
Boeing thanks FACC
“In the 25 years I have worked with FACC, the company has shown its commitment to excellence, innovation, and partnership. The promises they make are promises they keep. We are grateful that FACC is part of the Boeing family, and I look forward to many more years making aviation history together.” – Jeff Luckey, VP European & Middle East Supplier Operational Performance, Boeing Commercial Airplanes
Sustainable success
In its 25-year existence, FACC has established itself successfully as a world-renowned supplier to the civil aviation industry. In the 2013/14 financial year, the company generated sales of 547.4 million euros. Currently, FACC has an order book worth around 4.2 billion USD. FACC's solutions deliver weight, and consequently, fuel savings in aircraft and helicopters. The expertise of the FACC Crew also ensures reduction in noise and optimization of comfort for the passengers. The company's competence begins in the early stages of development, where FACC banks on its leadership in terms of quality and technology. At present, approximately 25 percent of all employees work in the Research & Development, Engineering, and Quality Control departments. Over the last three years 140 million euros have been invested in new programs as well as research and development. One such project is the new Technology and Test Center in Ried im Innkreis, which was completed in fall 2013. Thanks to the company's investment in research and development, today's technology from FACC is extremely advanced. As recently as twenty years ago, the proportion of fiber-composite materials by weight in an aircraft was less than 10 percent. In modern aircraft, this is now more than 50 percent. And this proportion will increase even further in the next few years, as part of the efficiency optimization process and the sustainable vision of "green flying". No company in this sector is represented with lightweight components in as many aircraft as FACC. With an annual growth of the aviation industry of almost five percent and the best of prospects in the disproportionately fast-growing composites industry, FACC is well on course for further milestones and new highs in the coming years.
