Ruguang Geng receives honor from Vice-Chancellor Mitterlehner

Ruguang Geng, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FACC AG, has been awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner yesterday presented Ruguang Geng with the Grand Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria at the official awards ceremony of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy. In his congratulatory speech, Mitterlehner highlighted the outstanding contributions that the long-serving Chairman of the Supervisory Board has made to FACC and the Austrian economy as a whole.

Ruguang Geng has served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at FACC since December 2009. Within this role, he makes an important contribution to ensuring that the specific long-term objectives, principles and strategies of the company, along with its global growth strategy, are consistently pursued under the majority ownership of the Chinese AVIC Group. In his speech, FACC CEO Walter Stephan thanked the representative of the owners and acknowledged the latter's respect and understanding for the different cultures, values and attitudes: "You have, while performing this role over the last few years and by way of your commitment to FACC, proven that a company with Austrian roots and a Chinese owner can see both economic and social success. You have also played a major part in FACC becoming one of the country's most important economic drivers and employers." With the support of Ruguang Geng, significant sums have been invested in FACC's Austrian locations in recent years. This has enabled the company to continue enhancing its position as one of the world's leading aviation suppliers and to generate sustainable growth. Ruguang Geng is dedicated to ensuring that FACC is managed as an independent Austrian company and that all export laws and customer requirements relating to technology transfer are strictly adhered to. He also facilitates access to the growth region of Asia, whereby FACC increasingly serves as a link between Western customers and China, currently the world's largest aviation market. "One in four planes produced by Boeing and Airbus are delivered to China. In partnerships with our majority shareholder AVIC, we want to benefit from the reciprocal business generated by these aircraft purchases," said Walter Stephan. To this end, FACC and AVIC formed a strategic alliance last year, under which passenger cabins for commercial aircraft are produced for the Chinese market by a local production partner in China. "We believe there is enormous potential for growth in this region. The declared common objective of FACC and AVIC is to become the leading manufacturer of aircraft interiors for OEMs," said Walter Stephan.

FACC's position among aviation suppliers is unique and enables the company to strengthen its relationships with OEM customers and to tap into growth markets more quickly and efficiently.

The Grand Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria is awarded in recognition of people from Austria and abroad who make a significant contribution toward Austrian society and/or the country as a whole.
