For the 16th time, the future skilled workers gathered for Austria’s biggest apprentice event at the Design Center Linz on 14 June 2018. More than 700 young people working and being trained in Upper Austrian industrial enterprises took part in this year’s apprentice competition, and the best of them were honored by the Upper Austrian Economic Chamber. One of the coveted apprentice awards went to the two FACC employees Sebastian Hij and Nadine Haselgruber who reached the 1st and 2nd podium finish in the field of plastics technology. “Well trained and skilled employees are a major competitive factor for us. Because the premium quality for which we stand as a leading technology enterprise in the aerospace industry requires highly competent employees. An apprenticeship is an excellent basis for this. We are very proud of our young staff members who more than deserve this award due to their know-how and commitment“, says Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC, praising the FACC Future Team in his laudatory speech.
In addition to these two award winners, six more 2nd year apprentices from FACC successfully participated in the competition and gained grades 1 and 2 for their excellent works.
Comprehensive training concept with an international orientation
FACC sets great store by apprenticeship training, which is an important part of the education and training scheme of the technology enterprise in the global aviation industry. Currently, FACC trains 39 youths - 12 girls and 27 boys - in six different technical professions.
In the course of the training, the apprentices receive a comprehensive and holistic professional education at the individual locations of FACC, where not only technical knowledge is imparted but self-development is fostered as well. Social competence workshops and courses about topics such as the proper way of handling money, safety on the road, addiction prevention, etc., are just as much an integral part of the education modules as are internal and external technical training, field trips to various enterprises and comprehensive preparation and support with a view to the final apprenticeship examinations. Due to the system of dual in-service training, apprentices are able to work hands-on at an early stage and are thus perfectly prepared for their later tasks as skilled workers. After successful completion, the new skilled workers have a great number of interesting and varied job opportunities in a globally active enterprise, which also include management functions in many divisions of FACC.
