Careers take off with apprenticeships at FACC

In just a short amount of time, Nina Wagenleitner and Lukas Reisegger worked their way up from apprentices to foremen at FACC. Apprenticeships with the innovative technology partner of the aerospace industry offer excellent future job prospects and create added value for society.

Nina Wagenleitner from Aurolzmünster finished her apprenticeship with FACC in July of last year, Lukas Reisegger from Antiesenhofen two years before. The two plastics engineers will assume management responsibilities on 1 March 2018. As foremen, they will lead a team of 18 employees. Their crew will manufacture engine housings for the twin-engine Airbus A350 XWB long-range wide-body aircraft. In the future, Wagenleitner and Reisegger will also bear much more responsibility in their new field of activity. They approach this challenge with drive and clear expectations regarding teamwork: “I appreciate the trust the company has placed in me and greatly value team spirit within my crew,” Wagenleiter stressed. Reisegger added: “For me, a good working atmosphere and solidarity form the decisive basis for new successes within the team.”

Excellent prospects – also for girls

The two young FACC foremen decided to start off their careers with an apprenticeship for various reasons. Wagenleitner's pronounced interest in technology, especially plastics technology, and the company’s orientation toward the future were the main driving forces behind her choice. This is the perfect example of how also girls - 30% of FACC's apprentices are female - have very good prospects in a technical profession with excellent career opportunities and good pay. Reisegger's choice of career was reinforced by the varied apprenticeship training offered and the skilled apprentice trainers.

Both spent four years training as apprentices before qualifying as plastics engineers. This profession offers excellent future job prospects as new products and applications are constantly being developed. Plastics engineers play a decisive role in shaping FACC's success story, especially in terms of lightweight construction technology. Both Wagenleitner and Reisegger look back on their apprenticeships with fond memories. An outdoor seminar, apprentice excursions and the FACC Future Team's apprentice project are some of the highlights the two enjoyed.

Comprehensive training concept with an international focus

FACC sets great store by apprentice training, which is an essential component of the global aerospace technology company's education and training program. "We are currently training 41 young people - 12 girls and 29 boys - in six different occupational fields," explains Helmut Winkler, head of training for plastics engineering/metal technology. "In the course of their apprenticeship, the apprentices receive comprehensive and integral vocational training at the individual FACC locations, which not only imparts specialist knowledge but also promotes personal development." Social skills workshops and courses on topics such as proper money management, road safety, drugs etc. are just as much a part of the training modules as internal and external specialist training courses, excursions to various companies and comprehensive preparation and support for completing the final apprenticeship exam. Thanks to the part-time dual vocational training system, apprentices are able to gain practical experience at an early stage and are thus optimally prepared for their future tasks as specialist workers. After successfully completing their apprenticeships, the new specialist workers have access to a multitude of interesting and varied career opportunities in a globally active company.

The stage is set for the next generation

In autumn, FACC once again offers young committed people the opportunity to get to know the various apprenticeships offered by the company. "We invite everyone who is interested in our company to get to know our comprehensive training program. Our main trial period is from September to February, but we are happy to arrange individual appointments on request. Our FACC Future Team is important to us since these are the experts of tomorrow who will ensure the long-term success of the company," Helmut Winkler explains. In this sense, the string of successes achieved by FACC apprentices is also likely to continue in the years to come.
